SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominicans that have been taking out their overcoats from the closets for the last five days of cool temperatures that the island has experienced can take them back to their places today.

According to the information from the National Meteorological Office (ONAMET), the temperatures will begin to go up beginning today at noon, as the result of the departure of the frontal system and its remnants that caused the low temperatures.

Over the past few days Dominicans went out all covered up due to the low temperatures, which went as low as 13 ° C in San Juan de la Maguana, 18 ° C in Monte Cristi, and 19 ° C in Puerto Plata, Santiago and Samana. Likewise temperatures of 20 ° and 21 ° were seen in other provinces around the country.

Apart from the return to normal temperatures, there will be little precipitation over the national territory.

Nonetheless, Onamet says that even though the rains will diminish significantly, on Tuesday afternoon the cloudiness will return due to the accumulated humidity during the daytime.

Onamet has kept the small craft warnings in place for today, especially along the Atlantic Coast due to high winds and abnormal waves. Likewise, in the Bay of Samana, caution should be taken if navigating in these waters.
